Grandma Lori says...

Halle is walking really well now and never stops. Luke thinks she is older now, since she can walk, and that she should be able to play with him – and wrestle with him. Not good! He also likes to tease her by taking his blanket and putting it over her head, while she is standing. I’m not sure why he loves to do this, but he does and of course it makes her fall. Halle falls a lot anyway. She has had three bloody lips in the last few weeks. But they are both adorable and so much fun. I noticed this week that Halle realized she could try whining. She must have learned that from Luke. Since Lindsay got home from Lake Powell she has really been giving it to her mommy, in way of a protest: “How dare you leave me!” It’s kind of driving Lindsay nuts, and Luke has been acting up a lot too. But like my mom used to tell me when you kids were doing something that drove me nuts, “Don’t worry too much because in two weeks it will just be something else.” So true.

Grandma Lori says...(Walking!)

Halle had her 1st birthday party on Wednesday and she started walking (consistently) for the 1st time at her party. Isn’t that cute? She had taken a few steps here and there and two times walked 10 steps, but at her party she just started walking everywhere she went. So cute. When a baby first starts walking they walk very stiff legged and kind of sway back and forth, then they fall and try again. That’s when you know they are really walking. When they just get up and try again and again.
For Halle’s b-day Lindsay and I took her and Luke to Thanksgiving Point to see the animals. She loves animals, just like Jamie. She wanted to crawl right inside those stalls with the horses and cows and was a little mad we wouldn’t let her. Luke fed the ducks and rode the horsies two times and was very proud of himself for riding all by himself. However, after about an hour the kids were tired. We went to Del Taco where they made a huge mess.
At the party Halle, by tradition, was given her own cake and was allowed to dive into it and destroy it. We will have to send pictures of that. She enjoyed it thoroughly.

Splish Splash!

We've discovered splash parks the last week or so and the kids love them! Halle loves to splash around and is such a brave girl, she goes right in and splashes and plays and has a great time.

Grandma Lori says...

I tended Luke and Halle yesterday. They are so, so cute. Halle is so close to walking. Yesterday, while holding on just a little she walked around the couch, then around the kitchen table, then she tried to make it to the island, but couldn’t quite keep balanced without holding on. She is getting very incorrigible about diaper changes and tries her best to get away. She would just love the freedom of no diaper, but I’m not willing.

Halle is saying little words like ba (ball), ba ba (bottle) da (dad) ma ma. It is really cute. Lindsay still keeps her hair in a little pony tail on top of her head, which makes her look even more adorable. Luke is a good little boy (if he is not tired or hopped up on sugar.) Last night Lindsay too Halle to the store with her and when they got home Luke ran up to Halle, gave her a big hug and said, “I missed you soooo much!” Lindsay and Cory have a great little family. A busy little family, but they are great.

We love corn on the cob

I had to throw in these corn pics. I don't know why but these kids chowing down on corn make me laugh. Halle loves it and I love how giving her some corn to chew on entertains her for 20 minutes.. even though most of it ends up on the floor!

She's a cutie

Today we went to the park. We went with my friend Jamie and her kids, she is into photography and has a way nice camera and she took these pictures. I love how detailed and clear they turned out! Halle has the prettiest eyes and I love how these pictures captured them. Also, Luke mastered the rock climbing wall so I thought I'd include the picture of him too.

Daddy's is 29

Daddy had a birthday. It was on a Wednesday and daddy of course had work so me and the kids met him downtown with lunch that I made and we ate outside on a bench under some trees by his work. It was really fun and I'm glad we got to spend some extra time with him on his birthday. Then we had a birthday dinner and cake, yum! We love our daddy!
