Lake Powell

We went to Lake Powell over Labor Day weekend and had a great time! The weather was nice and I was feeling better this time being over the pregnancy sickness. The kids had lots of fun as usual and loved playing on the beach, fishing, paddle boarding, and Halle even tried wake surfing for the first time with Daddy! The highlights of the trip for me were watching Luke and Halle paddle board around the bay together playing so nicely together, and when they both wanted to try wake surfing and got up easily the first try with Cory and did a great job! We have little fish on our hands and I'm glad they enjoy the water and being at the lake so much.

BOY and GIRL!

We are all so excited!

Cory and I found out what they were at the ultrasound but kept it a secret until that night. To make it fun for the kids we had some cupcakes made up at a bakery, one with a blue filling for the boy and one with pink filling for the girl. My family was also there. We ate dinner and then let the kids both chose one of the two gender reveal cupcakes. We didn't know which was which - it just so happened that Luke chose the boy cupcake and Halle chose the girl cupcake. Then we told them to takes bites and show us what they found out. Yay! It was so fun and the kids were both so excited. 

I was really hoping they would be boy/girl. This way Luke and Halle both get what they wanted...Of course Luke wanted a brother and Halle wanted a sister. Luke especially would have been disappointed I'd he didn't get a brother, and I'm so glad Halle will get to have a sister. And I really thought it would be fun to have the experience of having both a boy and a girl again. Plus, I think having them boy/girl this takes away a lot of the "twin rivalry" worries. Of course we would have been happy with any outcome, but we couldn't be more happy with this news :). So fun! Can't wait for a new brother and sister to join our family. 

Daddy's work party

Cory's work had a summer party tonight at Sugarhouse park. We ate yummy BBQ food for dinner and had root beer floats. Then afterward they had some fun games for the kids like gunny sack races, fishing for toys, and a haystack candy/toy dive. The kids had lots of fun! Luke is so competitive, in the gunny sack race he won! Then whoever was in charge realized the littler kids needed to be broke into a separate group, so they had another race for 5 years and under, and Halle won that! What can I say, our kids are just so athletic :). 

First day of preschool

Today is Halle's first day of preschool! She is very excited and picked out her all pink outfit. She is starting school at a new place this year called Visions. It's a preschool and dance program. She goes Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Mondays and Wednesdays she goes at 11:00 and has dance for an hour, then takes a packed lunch and eats with the "lunch bunch" group, then has preschool from 12:30-3:00. Fridays it's preschool only in the morning. I'm hoping she likes it, I think it will be a lot of fun for her and a great way to keep her busy and happy.

Also, this school had an accelerated preschool program and with her being so smart and also older for her grade I thought this would be a good fit. She had to go do a little assessment to get into the accelerated class before we signed her up. When I picked her up the teacher looked at me and said, "well, she definitely needs to be in the accelerated program. She's a very smart little girl." Yes, she is!

Late night conversations

It's hard to resist this cute face when she wants to stay up late talking. Halle tends to get scared at night so I have made a habit of lying down with her till she falls asleep, or I lay on the floor next to her bed. Tonight I told her after story time and talking she needs to start learning to fall asleep on her own. So I scooted to the door and told her each night I'll move a little further away from her bed and room until I'm out of he room and she's falling asleep on her own. But when Halle came to sit by me and said "mom, let's talk" I couldn't resist! Pretty soon she was telling me all about a movie she watched today and I was snapping off pictures of how cute she looks in her PJs. 

I love our little late night conversations. It's when she really opens up to me. And I hope (even though she won't always need me to lay with her because she is scared) that we can continue our little conversations at night as a special little one on one time for us. It makes me happy when she hugs me at night at says "mommy is my best friend" in her cute little voice. I tell her we will always be best friends! I sure love my girl! 

Daddy's birthday card

I am dying over how cute the pictures are the kids drew Daddy for his birthday. They worked so hard and long on them. 

Here's Halle's. So cute. We were cracking up over the drawing of Cory. He said, "is my tummy that big?" Hahaha. Not sure why Halle decided to draw Daddy with a big tummy. So funny. 

4th of July cupcakes

Yesterday we had fun making 4th of July cupcakes with Grandma Lori. They turned out cute and yummy! We have been lucky having Grandma Lori around a lot lately helping out because mommy has been very sick being pregnant with our twins on the way! We are very lucky we have such an awesome grandma who wants to help out and loves her grand kids so much!
