Lake Owyhee 2011

Lake Owyhee was great! The kids absolutely LOVED being out in the wilderness for a week. Jamie and Grandma Lori had all sorts of fun art projects and things planned for them which made it lots of fun. Jamie even had a treasure hunt and the kids loved it. It was a great week and Luke and Halle are already asking when we are going back!

Halle and the dried crickets...yuck!

The other day we went grocery shopping at Walmart. The whole time Halle and Luke were asking to go see the fishes. So after filling our cart with our long list of groceries we made our way back to the fish tanks.

Once we got there Halle did not want to stay in sitting in the cart and kept saying "out! out!" She wanted to be able to stand on the ground next to the fish tanks and put her face right up to them to see the fish. So I finally gave in and let her get out.

Then Luke spotted a skeleton head decoration to go in a fish tank. He had seen this before and has been wanting it for awhile. As Luke and I were talking about how this could be something he could be earning and if he should get the skeleton head or a different fish tank decoration, out the corner of my eye I could see that Halle had grabbed something off the shelf and had it in her hands. I turned to my side and could tell it was some sort of jar of fish food.

I said, "Halle, please put that back." But of course her response was "no!" and before I had a chance to take the few steps forward and take it from her hands she quickly twisted the jar open and shoved a handful of whatever was inside into her mouth. I quickly took the jar away from her and turned it around to read the label: dried crickets! So gross! I just about died!

After the scramble of trying to get her to spit the crunchy little things Luke still wanted the skeleton head. We had caused so much ruckus with the crickets and I didn't have the energy to try to tell Luke he had to wait to get the skeleton head till later, so I just gave in and got him the skeleton head!

Lagoon!

The kids had a blast at Lagoon this year! We haven't been since Luke was just a baby so this was a whole new thing for both of them. They started out a little nervous to go on rides but we started with the small ones and by the end Luke was wanting to go on Puff the Magic Dragon (the mini roller coaster - the scariest kiddie ride) over and over, and even though you could tell Halle was a little nervous she would go right along with him! It was a really fun day.
