Brain freeze?

After being out of town all last week we had a long list of grocery shopping to do today. So I told the kids I would get them a chicken nugget kids meal from the McDonald's inside Walmart to eat while we shopped, which they love and would keep them busy while we shopped. I ordered the kids meal (plus a large diet coke), reached for by bag, and can you guess what happened next? No wallet! I do this way too often.

When I told my kids we weren't going to be able to get the kids meal Luke literally collapsed to the ground in tears. But then the very nice McDonald's worker girl who had been ringing us up was so cute and offered to give my kids free ice cream cones to take home. This turned the whole situation around. Luke was loving life and probably wishing I would leave my wallet behind all the time when we go to Walmart - in and out without having to shop for groceries and leaving with ice cream cones instead!

So I buckled the kids in their car seats, both with their ice cream cones in hand, and we headed home.

Then, I'm not even exaggerating, about a half mile down the road Halle hollered "I'm done!"

I looked back and sure enough Halle was empty handed, but did have a nice layer of ice cream all around her mouth and dripping down her chin and onto her shirt. Then I looked at Luke. He was only about halfway done with his ice cream and still had his whole cone to go, so how in the world could Halle already be finished? She probably dropped it on her lap or the floor something, I was thinking.

So I asked Luke if Halle's ice cream cone was really all gone. "Yep! She ate fast!" was his reply.

"Halle, did you eat the whole thing?" I asked her.

"Yeah!" She answered.

I noticed that the cone in Luke's hand had that little paper with the McDonald's logo wrapped around the part of the cone that you hold.

"What about the paper, Halle? Where did the paper wrapper go?" I asked her.

"I eat it!" Was her response.

Luke thought this was hilarious.

So at the next stop light I did a full turn around to check the situation out. Sure enough, no trace of any ice cream OR any paper wrapper anywhere. Yes, Halle downed the entire ice cream cone, including the wrapper, in about one minute, maybe less. I can't say I blame her, I always scarf down my desserts so she probably gets it from me. But still, she didn't bat an eye at the paper?

Of course Luke had to take a bite of the paper too just to see what it was like, but he decided right off it was no good. I guess Halle was in too big of a hurry to notice.

St. George trip

We went down to St. George for a long weekend. 

While there we had a little birthday celebration for Halle. 

"Grass...happy day!"

Halle is so funny how much she talks and how much she picks up on what people are saying around her. She will repeat anything she hears. We got our sod put in a few weeks ago but before it was in one night she was wandering outside on the dirt and we could hear that she was talking to herself. When we listened a little closer we could hear what she was saying, "Grass...happy day." Hah! We figured that she must have heart one of us say something like, "It will be a happy day when we get grass in," and she remembered that and repeated it later. Because we knew that we hadn't said it that day, so it must had been from before. We thought that was so funny. So after that happened we would say that to her, "Grass...happy day." And now that we have grass we say it all the time and so does she!

Halle's 2nd birthday!

Halle is two! She is growing so fast! She is the sweetest, funniest, smartest, cutest, cleverest, most social, talkative, and prettiest little two year old ever! We love her so much and can't imagine life without her! 

We had a fun day celebrating her birthday. She loves going to the farm at Thanksgiving Point, so we decided to go there. Grandma Lori and Aunt Jamie came with us. 

Then later that night we had family over for a little birthday party for her.
