February pictures

Halle thinks it's really neat that Luke is wearing underwear and keeps wanting to put it on!

Meet Rudolph and Nemo

Our first pets. Luke is very excited about them. He earned them for doing something that's a very big deal. To do with the toilet. It starts with a P and ends in a OOP.

So now we have two fish. The kids love to watch them and feed them. Halle loves them just as much if not more than Luke. She gets so excited each time we have to feed them and says "fish!" which sounds more like "feesh!" She is such a climber and climbs up from Luke's train table onto the dresser the tank sits on to get a closer look at the fish. I've even caught her dropping things into the tank through the little feeding door. One day I went into the room and her toothbrush was floating on top of the water.

So we officially have our first pets!

Grandma Lori says...

Halle is lurking around next to me right now wondering what she can get into next. She is way busy!!! You know how Luke was at about 18-20 months old. Well Halle has the same amount of energy (if not more) and in some ways she’s even more busy. In a way she’s more good natured – like she doesn’t get upset as easy. For example when she wakes up she’s almost always in a good mood. Whereas if you remember often when Luke would wake up he was (and still is) in a bad mood for a while. But that little girl just struts around swinging her arms like it’s no one’s business and she wants to investigate and pull EVERYTHING apart. Last night we were tending for a little while at Lindsay and Cory’s house and she kind of (just a little bit) figured out what the whole “hide and seek” thing is about. But she just runs up and tries to say “count” and it comes out something like: “tuow” and if I say “count” she says yeah (as clear as can be), then runs off. I’m supposed to count to 10 and call out ready or not here I come. At first she would just kind of meet me in the hall. Then she got to where she would stay in Luke’s room and sometimes even kind of hide. But I’ll tell you she was pretty excited every single time we did it and we must have done that 40 or 50 times. Kids that age are pretty funny and she’s as cute as can be.

Crazy doctor's office visit

Waiting an hour at the doctor's office with a three and one year old who are hungry and tired does not go well! (at least for me) Wastebaskets turned over, dirt from pots all over the ground, smushed fishy crackers. I tried!!

Luke's skeleton birthday party

Luke wanted to have a "skeleton birthday party." He LOVES skeletons. It all started with some singing skeleton Halloween decorations that were Cory's moms. They sing the song "I got you babe" and Luke and Halle loved them and played them over and over again. She ended up giving them to us because the kids love them so much. After Halloween they didn't want to put them away so we kept them out through the holidays.

When it came time for Luke's birthday I thought it would be fun to let him pick a party theme for a family birthday party, and what did he want? He wanted a skeleton birthday party! So I decided to go with it, and he loved it!

Here is the invitation

The singing skeletons Luke and Halle love that started it all

Luke's 3rd birthday

Luke turned 3 years old yesterday! We had a fun day.

First, my mom and I took Luke and Halle to the Children's Museum downtown at the Gateway. The kids had lots of fun there!

For dinner we had apples and pizza - Luke's favorite.

We also got Luke a McDonald's fruit smoothie - he loves these! Halle got some in her bottle - she loves them too!

Then he opened presents

And we had cake!
